Belinda Muller (born in New Brunswick, Canada) is a multidisciplinary photographic artist in Nova Scotia. She studied Commercial Art and Graphic Design. Her work has been exhibited in Hungary (PH21 Gallery), Barcelona (FotoNostrum), Dubai (Gulf Photo Plus and 8th Street Studios) and Nova Scotia (Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (Yarmouth)). 

In addition to her work, Belinda has created work for a diverse list of international brands, advertising agencies and magazines.

Belinda is the recipient of numerous awards, including gold in the Paris Photo Prize, Pollux Awards, the International Photography Awards, The Master’s Cup Awards, The International Loupe Awards, The Master’s Cup Color Awards, WPPI, The Spider Black & White Awards, One Life Competition.

Belinda’s work has appeared in international magazine publications, including Vogue Arabia, Kurv Magazine (Australia), Lonely Planet, L’Officiel Middle East, The Dodho, FotoNostrum Magazine, Elle Arabia, Kaltbult Magazine and PhotoEd Magazine.

Belinda currently sits on the Juried Assessment Committee of Crafts Nova Scotia and is a Visual Arts Nova Scotia and Canada Council for the Arts member. She is also part of the International Women Network.

Belinda is a mentor, adding her unique insights and perspectives to conversations across Canada and internationally.

Artist Statement

Photography is a progression from painted art and a visual diary of my stimuli and thoughts. Whether in human, abstract or natural form, it records my unique vision of what I want the viewer to see and experience. It records an immediate presence but documents the synergy between me as the photographer and my subject. While the viewer may find this appealing, I find the process more nuanced without conveying what I see in words. Even with additional enhancements such as styling, technique and alternative methods, I remain faithful to what my vision should be.

My visual perception defines my style in capturing my work. There appears to be a blurring of the edges without a fast beginning as they move back and forth.

Paintings created by European painters, mainly the Dutch Masters, have been my most decisive influence as an artist. Inspired by subject, mood, directional light, and subtle colour subtlety combined to create stories are themes evident in my work. Standing in a foggy, obscure snow-filled landscape where elements of nature compete to stand out or an approaching storm with threatening clouds and shifting weather patterns is what attracts me most.
